Indian pilgrims kiss the ground of Nankana Sahib (Pakistan) upon arriving for the annual celebration of Gurpurab.

The annual celebration of Gurpurab, birth of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, is underway at Nankana Sahib, Pakistan

Masood Mallhi is present at Nankana Sahib to capture the excitement, joy and devotion of thousands of devotees that have gathered there to pay their respects on the most sacred festival for sikhs. Hundreds of devotees have arrived from places like Ludhiana, Hydrabad and Amritsar in India as well and Masood Mallhi talks to them about their journey – both physical and spiritual to this holy place.

A big stage has been set up, keertan started and Akhand Paath due to start tonight as the preparations get underway to celebrate Gurpurab at Nankana Sahib, Pakistan. 40,000 people are expected to attend the celebrations with 540 pilgrims arriving from India too.

Pilgrims had started arriving 6 days in advance from Sindh, Balochistan and Kheyber Pakhtunkhwa with 3 special trains running from Singh and 2 from Kheyber Pakhtunkhwa.
