Shaheedi Jor Mela at Chamkaur Sahib

The three-day Shaheedi Jor Mela held every year in the memory of two elder Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh started with nagar kirtan and religious congregations here today. The mela is organised to commemorate martyrdom of Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh who sacrificed their lives fighting the Mughal forces.

Thousands of devotees from different parts of the state paid obeisance at historical gurdwaras. A large number of tractor-trailers, buses, trucks could be seen ferrying people to the town. A religious procession from Tapparian Amarsingh village reached the town on the occasion and a dhadhi darbar was organized at the Diwan Hall of Gurdwara Katalgarh Sahib in the afternoon.

Social organizations and residents from surrounding villages organised langars in the town and on the roads leading to it. Tomorrow, the second day of the mela .
